When you Arrive…

When you book a Reiki + Coaching session, I will invite you to soak your feet in a copper foot bath sprinkled with epsom salts and cedarwood essential oil to help ground you and bring you into the present moment.  We will have tea and discuss anything that is on your mind on this particular day. This might be current life stressors, physical pain, uncertainty about the future, whatever seems most pertinent for each individual session. This conversation helps to set an intention for what is needed most out of the Reiki healing session.

There is no one right way to receive Reiki. The experience is unique to every person. No matter what your experience is, you are doing it the ‘right way.’ No two sessions will be the same since as humans we are constantly evolving and changing.

It is important to note that I am not doing anything TO you. As a Reiki Practitioner I am a conduit of Reiki (life force) energy that is channeled through me and into you. As my hands are resting on you, it is common to feel heat, cool, energy sparks throughout your body, twitch, etc.  We know we are energetic beings. Our medical field uses machines like MRIs and EKGs to tap into this energy.  Using Reiki is complementary to western medicine as it moves the energy that is already inside or around us. It is commonly used in hospitals for pain management, with Cancer patients, and in hospice care. As a trauma-informed social emotional facilitator, and having been an educator for 23 years, I am always sensitive to the needs of others. It is always o.k. to tell me what you need in order to help make you feel most comfortable.

After your Reiki session, we will discuss anything that might have come up for you. Sometimes this is incredibly relaxing and sometimes it involves more of a clarity or new understanding of the stress that we discussed at the beginning. The coaching aspect of these wellness sessions is infused in both the beginning and the ending of each session. Most people leave with a newfound understanding of something they are struggling with. I follow up with an email recap of our time together as well as next steps for continuing to open a certain chakra that you are curious about exploring further based on your Reiki session.

  • I lived in chronic pain for years. I didn’t think there was a way out. My pain’s onset was actually three years after a traumatic birth with my daughter. I had HELLP Syndrome and Preeclampsia, a life threatening pregnancy complication. It was hard for me to connect the dots between trauma and pain, but I did eventually figure this out. The body is trying to protect you from perceived pain. My body was doing what it thought it needed to do to keep me safe, but it was so hard to navigate this at the time. I saw all the doctors, therapists, physical therapists, massage therapists, acupuncturists. You name it, I tried it. Pain is sneaky and very, very smart. I thought I needed to accept that the rest of my life would be lived in pain, until I met Hazel, a bodywork and energy healer in 2018 in Berlin, Germany. I shared with her that I had been in pain for years and she convinced me to come and see her to experience her practice. I made the appointment and of course arrived with great hesitancy and doubt that anything could help me. Each session started with tea and a hot foot bath. We talked about various things that I was struggling with. She then practiced a Japanese massage technique with energy work. She always said that she wasn’t doing anything TO me, that I was healing myself. It was hard to believe her, but after working with her over the course of six months, my pain disappeared. I am now pain free and have been for over three years. Each day feels like a precious gift now. I want to share the gift of providing coaching and healing body work (Reiki) with people. My clients who seek me out for this combined approach are often overwhelmed. Some people are stuck in physical pain, or sometimes it is simply someone who longs to be listened to and nurtured. I won’t heal you. You will do that for yourself. Healing and change IS possible. Combining mind (coaching) and body (chakra balancing) is key for mind + body healing.

  • Comfortable clothes (you will remain clothed during the session) and pants that are easily rolled up for the welcome foot bath are best.

  • Hospitals and hospice care givers offer Reiki as a complimentary practice for patients because there are many known health benefits.

    Reiki can:

Bring on a meditative state, Foster tissue and one healing after surgery, Stimulate the body’s immune response, Relieve pain and tension

Studies have shown the Reiki treatments may create feelings of:

    Peace

    Relaxation

    Security

    Wellness

  • I love massage, too! Reiki and massage are different modalities. Massage relaxes the muscles and relieves tension. Reiki welcomes new energy into the body, relaxes and relieves tension, and transforms the body and mind to create clarity on life struggles and pain while promoting long-term mind-body-soul healing.

  • Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, healing, and stress relief through gentle touch. Reiki practitioners use their hands to provide universal (Rei) life force energy (ki) to improve the flow and balance of energy to support healing and provide stress relief. People receiving Reiki often feel heat and/or tingly ‘electric’ sensations throughout their body. You often truly can FEEL the energy.

  • No. Reiki treatments alone should not replace the guidance of a physician or psychotherapist. Reiki does complement medical and therapeutic practices and can increase healing.
